Team Lead Riga - Digital Delivery

Application deadline: 31.08.2026

Location: Latvia

Type of contract: Permanent

Our people are the heart of Norwegian. We embrace a culture of diversity, equality, and inclusion. Embracing this culture is critical to our business success and makes us stronger together.

Our people have different knowledge, experiences, and backgrounds, but all share a passion for our vision: to become the most loved and trusted airline in Europe.

Are you our new Team Lead?

Do you enjoy developing people just as much as developing software?

We're looking for a Team Lead to join our Digital Delivery organisation in Riga. In this role, you'll lead one of our software development teams and play a key part in building a motivated, collaborative, and high-performing team.

As Team Lead, your primary responsibility is to create an environment where software developers can thrive, grow, and deliver great digital solutions together. You'll combine people leadership with technical understanding, working closely with Product Owners, Business Owners, Tech Leads, Architects, and developers across Digital Delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape both people and technology within the Norwegian Group.

We believe great software is built by motivated people working together, and we're looking for a leader who can inspire, support, and develop both individuals and the team as a whole.

What will your day look like?

As Team Lead, your focus will be on enabling your team to succeed by creating clarity, removing obstacles, and supporting both individual and team development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team of software developers
  • Creating a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture built on trust, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Conducting regular 1:1 meetings, providing coaching and constructive feedback, and supporting employee development
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, competence development, and long-term team growth
  • Building an environment that encourages knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Working closely with Product Owners and Business Owners to translate priorities into delivery plans
  • Planning and coordinating team capacity together with Tech Leads and software developers
  • Facilitating Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and team workshops
  • Removing obstacles that impact delivery and helping the team continuously improve
  • Collaborating closely with Architects, Product Owners, Tech Leads, and other Digital Delivery teams
  • Contributing to stable, predictable, and high-quality deliveries while balancing business priorities, technical quality, and team wellbeing
  • Participating in technical discussions and supporting architectural decisions together with senior developers and architects
  • Being an active member of the Digital Delivery leadership team, contributing to organisational development and leadership collaboration

We believe you have

  • Experience leading software development teams
  • A genuine passion for coaching, motivating, and developing people
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to build trust and create an engaging, high-performing team culture
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments
  • A software development background with the ability to understand technical discussions and software architecture, without necessarily being the technical expert
  • Experience balancing people, delivery, and business priorities
  • A structured, pragmatic, and solution-oriented leadership style
  • The ability to create clarity, remove obstacles, and drive continuous improvement
  • Experience with recruitment, onboarding, and competence development is considered an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken

About Norwegian

The Norwegian group is a leading Nordic aviation company, owning two leading airlines in the Nordics: Norwegian Air Shuttle and Widerøe’s Flyveselskap. Norwegian operates an extensive network connecting the Nordics with major European cities, while Widerøe primarily serves short-runway airports in rural Norway, providing vital regional connectivity.

Our Story

The Norwegian story began almost three decades ago - we were founded in 1993 but only began operating as a low-cost carrier with Boeing 737 aircraft in 2002. Our core values have remained the same since the beginning – to offer affordable fares for all and to allow customers to travel the smart way by offering value and choice throughout their journey.

The Norwegian brand expanded across the globe as the airline launched short haul services across Europe and then entered the long-haul sector serving the US, Asia and South America. In 2018 the company changed course to focus on core destinations and the right sizing of the airline in response to customer demand and global industry trends.

The rapid global spread of COVID-19 throughout 2020 and into 2021 accelerated this process and in January 2021 the company announced a simplified business structure and a dedicated short haul only network concentrating on a broad range of domestic routes in Norway, across the Nordics and to key European destinations.
