Are you our new Senior Accountant?

Based at our administrative office in Riga, Latvia, our Accounting Shared Services team is a crucial pillar of Norwegian's global finance operations.
Our department is responsible for ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant accounting processes across our international operations—encompassing accounts payable, fixed assets, general bookkeeping, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet reconciliations.
In Riga, you will join a growing, collaborative team of dedicated and highly skilled finance professionals working in a dynamic and supportive environment.

 

How would your day look like?

As a Senior Accountant within our Accounts Payable team, your daily routine will involve a balanced mix of transactional accuracy, problem-solving, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Your day will start by aligning on key tasks with your colleagues and reviewing incoming purchase invoices to ensure accurate and timely processing.

Throughout the day, you will manage bookkeeping activities in SAP, monitor process KPIs, maintain the AP sub-ledger, and coordinate with internal stakeholders such as financial controllers and procurement teams.
You will also dedicate time to month-end closing tasks like cost accruals and account reconciliations, while actively identifying opportunities to streamline or automate our workflows.

You are our ideal candidate if:

  • Education: You hold an academic degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.

  • Experience: You have 3+ years of similar work experience in accounting, ideally gained within an international company or a shared services environment.

  • Systems & Digital Skills: You possess strong digital skills and hands-on experience working with SAP. Proficient knowledge of general accounting principles and intermediate to advanced skills in Excel are required.

  • Tax Knowledge: You have a solid basic understanding of tax, including VAT and corporate tax principles.

  • Languages: You are fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Mindset & Approach: You are process-oriented with an analytical mindset, accurate, efficient, and reliable under tight deadlines.

  • Interpersonal Skills: You are a great team player who is also business- and solution-oriented, with a supportive mindset and an intense sense of professional ethics.

Our Story


The Norwegian story began almost three decades ago - we were founded in 1993 but only began operating as a low-cost carrier with Boeing 737 aircraft in 2002. Our core values have remained the same since the beginning – to offer affordable fares for all and to allow customers to travel the smart way by offering value and choice throughout their journey.

The Norwegian brand expanded across the globe as the airline launched short haul services across Europe and then entered the long-haul sector serving the US, Asia and South America. In 2018 the company changed course to focus on core destinations and the right sizing of the airline in response to customer demand and global industry trends.

The rapid global spread of COVID-19 throughout 2020 and into 2021 accelerated this process and in January 2021 the company announced a simplified business structure and a dedicated short haul only network concentrating on a broad range of domestic routes in Norway, across the Nordics and to key European destinations.
