Are you our new Crew System Developer?

 

As our new Crew System Developer, you will join our dynamic Digital Delivery & Business IT department based in the vibrant city of Riga, Latvia. Our department is responsible for ensuring that Norwegian’s crew management IT systems are highly optimized, compliant, and integrated into our wider technical ecosystem. You will be a key player in a specialized, collaborative international team dedicated to keeping our operations flying smoothly.

 

How would your day look like? No two days are quite the same! You will spend your day translating complex airline policies and collective agreements into automated, highly optimized rules within our Jeppesen systems. You will code, test, and debug scripts, collaborate closely with our Crew Optimization and Analytics teams, and provide technical support to ensure our production systems remain reliable. You will also participate in system upgrades, design new platform features, and document your innovative technical solutions.

In this role you will be responsible for:

You will take ownership of developing, configuring, customizing, and maintaining our core Airline crew Jeppesen systems (JCP, JCR, and JCTS) for the Norwegian Group airlines (including Norwegian Air Shuttle and Widerøe). A large part of your work will involve writing clean, efficient code to automate flights limitations and Union Agreements (CBAs) into optimization rules. In addition, you will support various business areas with rule modeling, debug operational scripts, collaborate on integrating systems within our wider IT architecture, and deliver technical upgrades and documentation to ensure high system availability.

 

 

You are our ideal candidate if:

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.

  • You have 3+ years of hands-on experience programming with Python.

  • You possess knowledge of the Rave programming language, software testing, and functional programming.

  • You have an analytical and problem-solving mindset, particularly in gathering business requirements.

  • You can work autonomously, manage tasks independently, and adapt quickly based on feedback.

  • You are a strong team player with excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.

  • You have advanced, fluent English communication skills (both written and verbal).

  • Knowledge of airline crew planning concepts is highly desirable, and you are open to travel when required.

Our Story


The Norwegian story began almost three decades ago - we were founded in 1993 but only began operating as a low-cost carrier with Boeing 737 aircraft in 2002. Our core values have remained the same since the beginning – to offer affordable fares for all and to allow customers to travel the smart way by offering value and choice throughout their journey.

The Norwegian brand expanded across the globe as the airline launched short haul services across Europe and then entered the long-haul sector serving the US, Asia and South America. In 2018 the company changed course to focus on core destinations and the right sizing of the airline in response to customer demand and global industry trends.

The rapid global spread of COVID-19 throughout 2020 and into 2021 accelerated this process and in January 2021 the company announced a simplified business structure and a dedicated short haul only network concentrating on a broad range of domestic routes in Norway, across the Nordics and to key European destinations.
