DEI and Corporate Responsibility

Norwegian is committed to operate in accordance with responsible, ethical, sustainable and sound business principles, with respect for people, the environment and the society. We were for instance the first airline to sign the UN Climate Action programme, and thereby committing to becoming climate neutral in 2050.

Our initiatives to reach our climate goals include

Renewing our fleet and investing in modern airplanes that release less CO2
We are replacing our airplanes of the kind Boeing 737-800 with 737 MAX 8. By using newer and more efficient aircraft, emissions can be reduced by 17%.

Increasing our use of biofuel
Norwegian is a co-owner of Norsk e-Fuel who creates biofuel, a new renewable fuel that can replace fossil fuels. Increasing the use of biofuel contributes to decreasing the emissions from aircrafts and is one of our focus areas.

How we fly
Our pilots use modern technology to gather wind- and weather data to choose smart routes when flying. In 2022 we decreased 50 000 tons CO2 emission by actively choosing smart routes in air.

UNICEF

UNICEF has been our most important humanitarian partner since 2008. Our support to UNICEF consists of humanitarian aid flights, fundraisers and donations from customers and colleagues. Together with our customers we have raised over 50 million Norwegian kroner and have helped hundreds of thousands of children all over the world.

Since 2014, we have carried out seven humanitarian aid flights with UNICEF to the Central African Republic (2014), Jordan (2015), Mali (2017), Yemen (2017), Chad (2018), Ethiopia (2023) and Sierra Leone (2025).

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

In line with our work to have a diverse workforce, we have some targets to create a balanced gender distribution:

  • Increase our share of female Pilots
  • Increase our share of male Cabin Crew
  • Increase our share of female Technicians
